Matt has experience providing communications solutions to corporations,
individuals and small businesses in the areas of marketing, public
relations and event planning.
Prior to joining BLH Consulting, Inc. as an Assistant Account Executive,
Matt worked in the Atlanta office of GCI Group, an international, full-service
public relations and media relations firm. He serviced many clients
including Lowe’s Home Improvement, Cingular Wireless, InterContinental
Hotels Group and Internap Network Services.
With GCI, his media relations skills produced print and broadcast placements
in the Chicago Sun-Times, New Haven Register, Washington Gardener,
WDIV-TV of Detroit and Inside InterContinental, the monthly HTML newsletter
of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. In 2004, Matt was a member
of the media relations team for the $41 billion Cingular – AT&T
Wireless merger, the largest all-cash merger in U.S. history.
In 2003, while enrolled at the University of Georgia, Matt accepted
the position of Marketing Assistant to the Dean of the Graduate School.
This role allowed him to create and launch the redesigned view book
showcasing the university’s graduate programs. The marketing
initiative was part of a larger effort to better position the Graduate
School as a source of academic achievement among its peer institutions.
Matt held many internships while pursuing his academics, including
positions in public relations, community affairs, marketing and finance.
While at WBNS-TV, Matt was on the team that coordinated the 2002 Best
of the Class recognition day for high school valedictorians in the
Greater Columbus, Ohio area. He also judged and organized the 2002
Central Ohio Jefferson Awards, a banquet honoring area residents for
outstanding community service.
As marketing intern with Verizon Wireless in 2001, Matt was instrumental
in unveiling a key billing initiative in the Midwest region. Prior
to this position, Matt spent three summers as a finance intern in the
Cleveland office of Ernst & Young, responsible for accounts receivable,
software testing and research.
Matt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from The Ohio
State University. He also holds a Master of Mass Communication degree
in Public Relations from the University of Georgia.
Originally from Ohio, Matt was born in Columbus and raised in Cleveland.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, reading and listening to music.
He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
